Rubber Industry in South Africa

The rubber manufacturing situation in South Africa has changed over the last 20 years. Large manufacturing organizations have closed down because, in many cases, with the increase in the value of the Rand against the US Dollar, it is now cheaper to import rubber or rubber products than to manufacture them locally however the rubber industry is a critical component supplier to the major industries in South Africa, namely the automotive and mining sector which remain at the heart of South Africa’s economy.
