The Unidrive SP Modular drives range offers the same advanced feature set as our panel mount drives but with additional power system flexibility; the drives may be arranged to provide a common DC bus system with or without an active front end (regenerative, 4 quadrant operation). Very high current motors may be controlled using a multi-drive modular arrangement.

NEW - SPM Power Selector Module

The SPM Power Selector Module has the potential to cut capital costs on control systems, whilst adding flexibility of operation, the possibilities for added redundancy at reduced cost and can even improve operating efficiency to cut energy costs.

The SPM Power Selector offers enhanced flexibility in drive systems implemented with Unidrive SPM drives. It enables automatic connection and disconnection of Unidrive SPM modules in a parallel drive system.

• Dynamically resize the inverter capacity by controlling the active and standby status of the inverter modules, enabling the inverter to operate with maximum performance over a wide torque/power range
• Design fault tolerant systems that can continue to operate with a reduced number of available modules, eliminating the need for redundancy in some critical applications
• Switch dynamically between controlling different sets of motor with different ratings, reducing the cost and size of the inverter systems where sets of motors are not required to operate together.

The Unidrive SP Modular drives are suitable for applications in both commercial and industrial applications where power scheme flexibility and regenerative energy saving provides an operational advantage. Typical applications include:

• Higher power motors are controlled using Unidrive SP modules connected in parallel. This is an economic and compact solution that simplifies installation and improves serviceability
• Allows you to use a DC bus system to recycle energy between simultaneously braking and motoring drives such as in a winder/unwinder configuration
• Minimise harmonics with 12, 18 and 24 pulse operation to allow you to meet and exceed stringent supply regulations
• Eliminate harmonics using an active front end
