Global Manufacturing
A global approach to
state-of-the-art manufacturing
Control Techniques is an international leader in the design and
manufacture of variable-speed electronic drives; drives that
control electric motors in processes from factory production lines
and automated machinery to cranes, lifts, wind-tunnels and wind
turbines.
Multi-national manufacturing and support
Our main manufacturing unit is at Newtown in Mid Wales, a
facility that employs over 350 people. Here, drives up to, and
over, 1 MW are made in what is probably the most advanced drives
factory in the world, utilising demand-led-manufacturing
principles, a high level of automation, and the most rigorous of
quality standards.
With over 95% of products exported, a global approach to
manufacturing makes good business sense with the latest SK AC
drives now being made in the Emerson Contract Electronics
Manufacturing plant in the Guangzhou province in southern China.
Naturally, the same exacting standards apply – with field
reliability proving to be the best in the business!
Customer support is equally important and is provided by the
international network of 54 Drive Centres covering 31
countries. As centres of drives expertise, Drive Centre teams offer
unrivalled applications knowledge, systems design and build,
specialist commissioning and installation times, stockholding,
training and round-the-clock customer support.
Guangzhou, China
The Emerson Contract Electronics Manufacturing facility lies
within a 1.3 million sq ft plant in Huangpu, in the Guangzhou
Economic and Technological Development District in southern
China.
As well as manufacturing drives, the Emerson facility makes
products for other Emerson companies including Emerson Motors,
Leroy Somer, Copeland, WR, Mallory, Liebert and ASTEC.
The partnership started in 2003 with the production of Commander
SE drives and has continued with the launch of the hugely
successful Commander SK drive in 2005.
This world class plant also boasts ISO 9002, 2000 version
certification and maintains the ISO 14001 environmental
standards.
All design work is carried out in the UK, with specifications
and critical parts and components remaining the same. Any upgrades
to firmware and hardware will be instigated in the UK. Quality and
reliability are at least as good as products made in the UK, with
products being exported to the world market.
